LonelinessPage 2

Verses 11–20 of 29

11

Isaiah 43:2 KJV

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

Context & Meaning

God does not always remove the isolating, overwhelming circumstances, but He promises His presence through them. The deepest answer to loneliness is "I am with you in it," not always "I will take you out of it."

12

Psalm 142:4 KJV

I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.

Context & Meaning

David's honest cry of loneliness from a cave is recorded in Scripture, showing that God does not shame the lonely for feeling abandoned. The psalm goes on to declare that God is the one who knows and cares.

13

Romans 8:38-39 KJV

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Context & Meaning

Separation from God's love is cosmically impossible, no circumstance, being, or dimension can sever what God has joined. The ultimate loneliness, separation from God, can never happen to the person in Christ.

14

John 16:32 KJV

Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

Context & Meaning

Jesus Himself experienced the abandonment of His closest friends, yet declared He was not alone because the Father was with Him. He walked the path of human loneliness first, so He understands it fully.

15

Psalm 23:4 KJV

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Context & Meaning

The valley of shadow is typically walked alone, yet the psalmist walks it without fear because the Shepherd is there. God's presence turns the loneliest path into accompanied ground.

16

Psalms 68:5 KJV

A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.
17

Psalms 68:6 KJV

God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.
18

Psalms 25:16 KJV

Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.
19

Psalms 25:17 KJV

The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.
20

Psalms 27:10 KJV

When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.
